Our dog, Bear, is a Newfoundland. He was the most adorable little ball of fur when
we brought him home from the shelter. He lives with us in the house and is part
of our family and I am not alone in this - there are millions of people who treasure
their pets as part of their family. We have had a lot of pets in the past, but I
think Bear has been the easiest to train. He is intelligent and picks most things
up the first or second time. However, we have had some pets that were very difficult
to train, but with patience and proper training tools, we always had success. There
are numerous studies that show people who own and interact with pets are happier,
more independent and feel more secure than those without them. Cambridge University
released a study showing that people who owned a pet produced improvements in overall
health in as little as one month. People who owned pets experienced less stress,
lowered heart beat rate, and blood pressure.

With winter coming on, it is important to make sure your pet is warm and dry. An
electric heating mat made specifically for pets is a wonderful way to add
comfort during the cold weather months. Keep pets inside as much as possible during
the winter since they are more susceptible to illness in the cold.
