120V Carbon Monoxide Detectors by Safe-T-Alert
120VAC Carbon Monoxide Alarms: Line Cord, Direct Plug In or 120V Hard Wired

120VAC Carbon Monoxide Alarms by Safe-T-Alert 60-511, 60-521 & 60-531
Line Cord, Direct Plug In or 120V Hard Wired
Please Remember:
CO detectors sense the product of incomplete
combustion. They provide NO protection against uncombusted gas (either natural gas or propane). You can have a
potentially explosive gas leak and no CO present. Click here for the companion GAS detector.
CO poisoning is not limited to faulty furnaces! Faulty gas fired water
heaters, fireplaces, cooking and heating stoves, or faulty vents from these
appliances also can poison you.
Safe-T-Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarms are listed to the October 1, 1998 UL-2034 specification
to permit operation from 120 VAC via an AC Line-cord, direct plug-in, or direct hard wired installation.
This UL certification allows us to call these devices "alarms".
To be fair, not all CO detector manufacturer's agree with the 1998 UL standard. There is another testing
standard (IAS) which these manufacturer's claim is "better". As far as Safe Home Products is concerned
units meeting either standard provides excellent protection against Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

WHERE TO INSTALL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
| | |
WHERE TO INSTALL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
TO PREVENT CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING:
- Inside each bedroom where the occupant closes the door while sleeping.
- In each room with wood, gas, coal or oil fireplaces and appliances.
- In the garage.
- Top of each staircase.
- Wall Mounting: Top of Alarm No More than Six Feet from the Floor.
- Ceiling Mount: As Close as Possible to Center of Hallway or Room. If Not Possible,
Mount Edge of Alarm At Least 4 Inches from Any Wall.
- Install at least 10 feet from bathrooms.
LOCATIONS TO AVOID INSTALLING CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
TO PREVENT NUISANCE ALARMS:
- Within 5 feet of cooking appliance, furnace or garage.
- Near open window or door: May delay CO from reaching alarm.
- In damp, very humid areas or next to bathrooms with showers.
- In very cold, very hot, or unheated buildings where temperature
can go below or above the operating range of the unit.
- In areas where household cleaning supplies or similar contaminants are used
without good ventilation.
NOTE: TWO units, one near the bedrooms and one
in the furnace/hot water heater area, gives MINIMUM protection against
carbon monoxide poisoning. Closed doors muffle alarm sounds even at the
85 decibel level. Older children and sound sleeping adults are unlikely to be awakened
by faint alarm sounds.
