Natural Gas and Propane Gas Detector With Safety Tab Plugs Directly Into Outlet

Install a natural gas alarm or propane alarm before you smell gas fumes ! To detect dangerous levels of propane or natural gas, you need a UL 1484 listed Safety Siren Pro Series Gas Alarm.  Home safety requires a combustible gas detector near each gas using appliance. This Family Safety Products Pro Series gas alarm , made in the USA, keeps you safer from gas fume explosions and fires: the gas monitor detects dangerous levels of hydrocarbon gases, specifically natural gas (methane) and/or propane gas. Screw your outlet cover screws through the built in safety tab so the gas detector stays in place even if someone pulls on it.

Propane safety requires a propane gas detector mounted near the floor where heavier propane gas collects. LP gas or propane furnaces in basements are more dangerous than natural gas because fumes collect near pilot lights at floor levels. A spark from a propane furnace or a propane water heater pilot light can set off an explosion or fire when a significant propane gas leak is present. Note: Carbon monoxide alarms will not detect a raw gas leak: the sensor in a carbon monoxide gas monitor and alarm is designed only to detect CO gas.

Why do I need a combustible gas detector/gas alarm? See 5 Reasons Below Product Information.

Safety Siren FS-HS80501 Gas Alarm and Gas Monitor Features:
  • Detects dangerous levels of methane and propane gas.
  • Computerized calibration: helps eliminate false alarms from momentary exposures to lp gas, propane, methane or natural gas.
  • Built-in self-diagnostics assures the unit is operating properly.
  • Power: 110-120VAC, direct plug in.
  • Power Usage: 6 watts.
  • Air Sampling: every 2 1/2 minutes.
  • Combustible Gas (CG) sensor alarm trip point: less than 25% of LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) of natural gas, propane and butane.
  • Approval: UL listed as a "Single Station Propane/Methane Detector" to 1484 requirements. Use this propane gas alarm or natural gas alarm for residential and unconditioned areas. Unconditioned areas include garages, boiler/furnace rooms, warehouses, barns, offices, etc.
  • Security Lock Tab: install outlet cover screw tab so unit cannot be pulled out of receptacle.
  • Advanced surface mount circuitry increases reliability.
  • Powerful 85dB Alarm
  • Five year limited warranty by manufacturer
  • Dimensions: 4.7 inches x 3.1 inches x 2.1 inches
  • Weight: 12 ounces
  • Made in USA.
  • Note: Add an electrical outlet if needed to install the Safety Siren combustible gas alarm correctly. Mount 4 to 20 inches above the floor for propane leak protection . Mount within 6 inches of the ceiling or on the ceiling at least 12 inches from a wall for natural gas leak protection .
Reasons to Buy, Install and Regularly Test A Combustible Gas Alarm:
  1. You Cannot Always Smell a Gas Leak . No matter how good your nose is, you may not be in the right place at the right time to notice a natural gas or propane leak.
  2. Carbon monoxide alarms give NO protection against combustible gas leaks. Carbon monoxide sensors detect only carbon monoxide, not raw fuel.
  3. It does not take striking a match to cause a gas explosion or fire. Turning off a light, setting a security alarm or closing a door spark a gas explosion or fire. Natural gas leaking from a basement furnace can leak upstairs through hollow walls.
  4. Gas appliances are not the only source of a gas leak . Gas can leak into homes via sump pits, inbound water lines or a natural gas well under your home.
  5. Each gas appliance is a potential source of a gas leak. Each gas appliance needs its own gas detector. Natural gas and propane gas pool above or below gas water heaters, gas clothes dryers, gas ranges, gas furnaces, etc.
