Safe gopher tunnel traps by Victor keep your yard from gopher destruction. No chemicals. No poisons. The Victor® Black Box Gopher Trap uses a choker loop-style trap made of weather-resistant plastic and galvanized steel construction for superior strength and durability. The gopher trap is sturdy black plastic, open on the bottom and looks like a rectangular box with no bottom and an open front. The loop "swings" in about the middle of the box.
To Set The Trap:
Hold spring down with both thumbs
Maneuver bail wire into position with right thumb while keeping pressure on right thumb. Tilting trap can help trip wire move into position.
Slowly relieve pressure on spring. Make sure bail wire is engaged with trip wire before sliding thumbs away from trap
Best Trap Placement:
Note: Two traps placed back to back are recommended for best results.
Find a fresh gopher mound. Dig up and expose active tunnel. Remove enough dirt to fit trap level with bottom of tunnel. "Peel back" the lawn to preserve for use after gopher has been caught.
Place traps in tunnel opening and seal all cracks with loose soil. You want no light to filter through the tunnel.
Keep vent holes clear of soil to allow air to enter.
Trapping Tips:
If gopher/s pack trap with dirt. Place carrots in vent holes and reset traps
Trap evening and early morning for best results.
Wash traps with water after use.
After trap has "fired", remove dead gopher from trap and reset in same hole until you've had three consecutive days of no catches.

Gopher trapping can be done at any time of year, but generally is easiest and most effective during Spring & Fall. Once gopher activity is detected it is important to move quickly as pregnant females can be caught before giving birth to her family.
Traps are most effective when properly placed in the gopher tunnel to snare the unsuspecting gopher in the spring-triggered loop. The hole should be covered up with dirt so that it appears as if the trap is part of the runway.
When used correctly, traps produce a catch within 48 hours. It is best to move the trap to another location in the runway if you do not catch a gopher in this time frame.
