This Family Safety Products Pro Series gas alarm , made in the USA,keeps you safe from gas fume explosions and fires by detecting dangerous levels of hydrocarbon gases, specifically natural gas (methane) and/or propane gas. Replaces the SM-TT-202 Safety Siren gas monitor. A combustible gas detector with a gas alarm is a home safety essential if you heat or cook with bottled propane gas or natural gas. Propane safety requires a propane gas detector mounted near the floor where heavier propane gas will collect. LP gas or propane furnaces in basements are more dangerous than natural gas because fumes collect near pilot lights at floor levels. A spark from a propane furnace or a propane water heater pilot light can set off an explosion or fire when a significant propane gas leak is present. Note: Carbon monoxide alarms will not detect a raw gas leak: the sensor in a carbon monoxide gas monitor and alarm is designed only to detect CO gas.
