Sense a natural gas smell ? Protect yourself from gas explosions or fires from hidden raw gas leaks with this 230VAC propane gas leak detector that also detects gas leaks from natural gas. Made in the USA by Safe-T-Alert, this gas safety monitor features a two prong European "German style" plug. Combustible gas alarms do not protect against carbon monoxide as this gas alarm sensor is specific to raw combustible gases. Carbon monoxide alarms will not alert you to raw gas leaks, only to CO which is the by-product of incompletely burned fossil fuels like coal, wood and heating gas.

Use the 65 inch gas alarm cord to mount the gas monitor near the gas source for more accurate detection. Propane gas is heavier than air. Mount this gas alarm within 4 to 20 inches of the floor to protect against propane gas leaks. Methane gas (natural gas) is lighter than air. Mount the detector within 6 inches from the ceiling or on the ceiling at least 12 inches from a wall.

This combination Liquid Propane Gas (LP) and Natural Gas (Methane) Detector helps protect against hidden gas leaks that can explode with a spark. Locate near sources of a potential gas leak: water heater, furnace, or stove/oven fueled by natural gas, propane gas, or methane gas.

The STA-40-411 (40-401) uses the latest microprocessor technology. The Underwriters Laboratories tests approved residential/RV usage only for Propane Gas and Methane Gas. This unit also detects acetone, alcohol, butane and gasoline fumes, all of which be present in your home.

InteleCheck Circuit: Eliminates false alarms from momentary exposure to Propane Gas, Natural Gas, aerosol cleaners, hair spray and other flammable gases. An 8 second double-check circuit is used to distinguish a gas leak from a momentary gas exposure.
Long Life, Self Cleaning Sensor: Maintenance free built-in sensor. Sensor is tripped at less then 25% of the lower explosive limit for natural gas, propane gas, and butane.

IMPORTANT: This combustible gas alarm detects only raw gas fumes. To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, install a carbon monoxide alarm to protect against faulty exhaust systems, gas heaters, ranges, etc. We sell 12V CO alarms and 9V battery operated carbon monoxide monitors.

Note: UL 1484 listed combustible gas detectors are not detectors for minute gas leaks. Sensors and detectors are tested in a combustible gas environment and meet the UL 1484 standards for alerts of dangerous gas levels. Deliberate exposure to natural gas, butane, propane, etc. can destroy the sensor in this unit. Use the test button to test this unit, not exposure to combustible gases.
