When a patient or elderly person tries to get out of bed or a wheelchair unassisted, this pull cord alarm alerts caregivers. The patient alarm uses one 9 volt battery. The pull cord plugs into the small audible alarm. When removed or pulled out, the electrical circuit is completed and the alarm is activated.
The unit measures about 2 1/8 inches by 2 5/8 inches by 7/8 inches. The black woven pull cord can be extended to about 31 inches. The patient alarm unit has a hook on the back that can be clipped to a chair or bed. There are two clips on the bottom that must be depressed to separate the two pieces to secure the battery. You may use an adhesive hook on the alarm back to secure the alarm. The switch options are high volume, low volume or off. To deactivate the alarm, switch off or re-insert the plug on the cord.
