Not sure which Window Guard is for you?

Do your windows slide open? Or are yours windows that wind out? This 3558-45V is a Guardian Angel Child Safety Window Guard that installs in sliders, casements or windows that move up and down. This telescoping window barrier extends from 35 to 58 inches to protect children in homes, day care centers and apartments. Use for window openings 21 5/8 to 26 inches when you need a removable child safety guard. Combine windowguard units for wider openings.
Baby safety, child safety and home safety experts agree that children must be
protected from falls from windows. Guardian Angel window guards are egress
(escape) window guards designed for safety not for home security. In an emergency, an adult or older child pushes button locks near the
mounting bars to remove guards. Window guards remove easily from inside or
outside a window. Each year in the USA, over 15,000 children fall from open
windows. Many die or suffer serious injuries or death from landing on concrete
or other hard surfaces.
Childproofing windows with Guardian Angel window guards is a must for
multi-level homes or homes where windows are close to the floor. Guardian Angel II window guards are made from strong, steel tubing powder coated with a
durable, lead-free white paint. For baby and child safety, install window
guards on any window more than 12 feet above ground level, windows 2nd through
6th story, or at any level where a child could fall or climb through an open
window. Window screens are not strong enough to keep children safe from window
falls.

How to measure for child safety window guards: - Identify window type. VERTICAL: The window opens by sliding a
panel to the side in a track, cranking a panel out or pulling or pushing a
panel of glass in or out. Guards for vertical windows are mounted like prison
bars to protect either the entire window opening or the entire window. SINGLE
HUNG : The lower window panel moves up and down in a track. DOUBLE HUNG :
Both the upper and the lower window panels move up and down, each in its own
track. For Single or Double hung windows, customers usually protect only the
window opening. This is done with a single guard with a window stop to keep the
window from opening above the top of the mounting bar. To protect both panes,
vertical guards can be mounted side by side or stacked like a ladder.
- Decide where to mount window guards: Inside the window frame or
extending beyond the frame with mounting bars in the studs.
- Use a tape measure to measure interior width of the window frame or
beyond the frame for stud mounting.
- Push the bottom window panel up until it stops or push the panel to the side to measure
the entire physical opening .
- Treat a double or single hung window like a vertical if you wish to cover the
entire window. Send us e-mail with the dimensions and we'll assist you.
- Compare measurements with chart below. Guards "telescope" like curtain
rods, locking into the side or top mounting bars. Guardian Angel II window
guards are not spring-loaded.
- Remember: horizontal and vertical window guards differ . Mounts for
vertical guards are designed to butt together so that only 4 inches are between
protective bars. The mounts are at the top and bottom of the window interior,
often between the screen and the window glass. Mounts for horizontal guards are
mounted on the sides of the window's bottom pane: there is a 4 inch space
between the first bar and the bottom of the window. and the screen is usually
on the outside of the window pane.
For unusual windows or for larger quantities of guards, fax specs or drawings
to SafeHomeProducts.com. NOTES: Window guards do NOT substitute for adequate supervision. Child
safety requires mature persons establishing and supervising children in a safe
environment. - Window guards MUST protect the entire OPEN portion of window or panel for baby
safety.
- No space greater than 4 inches is allowed according to ASTM PS 120. (This is
why double and single hung windows can not be safely mounting vertically in
sliders, casements, and push-outs or pull-in windows.)
- Use window stops (such as Super Stoppers) in conjunction with Window Guards for
windows that open more than 22 inches.
