No maintenance except for changing batteries if you do not use AC.

Independent laboratory tests prove YardGard sound technology is a highly effective form of pest control. Infrared motion detector activates sounds on batteries or AC. Continuous operation option uses AC adapter (included). Dial use diagram instructions on unit specify optimal frequencies to customize pest control. Installation suggestions: Be a good neighbor. Best results: Mount at animal's head level.

Low (sonic) settings may be audible to humans with good high frequency hearing. If this occurs, select a higher frequency.
