Next to your smoke detectors, install carbon monoxide monitors, especially in bedrooms when people sleep with doors shut. Carbon monoxide gas can both poison and suffocate. This UL listed Quantum Guardian is a 9 volt battery operated CO alarmfor residential use with an optical carbon monoxide sensor and a solid state infrared reservoir. Mount it high on the wall or on the ceiling.
If your power fails, this UL listed 9V battery powered (battery included) carbon monoxide detector protects against carbon monoxide poisoning. Faulty heat exchangers on gas furnaces, faulty fireplaces, heating stoves, gas ranges and water heaters can emit carbon monoxide due to incomplete burning of natural gas, wood and coal.
The carbon monoxide sensor in the CO detector uses a solid-state infrared reservoir (SIR) sensor. This biotechnology based sensor (biomimetric) mimics hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in blood. An optical sensor responds proportionally to CO sensed in the environment. Light emitting diodes and photodiode sensors sense the amount of transmitted light through the optical sensor. When monitored carbon monoxide reaches a dangerous level, the detector sounds an alarm.
Caution: This alarm will indicate presence of carbon monoxide only at the sensor. Carbon monoxide gas may be present in other areas.
Caution: This carbon monoxide alarm is intended for use in ordinary indoor locations of family living units. It is not desided to comply with occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) commercial or industrial standards. Individuals with medical problems may consider using warning devices that provide audible and visual signals for carbon monoxide concentrations under 30 ppm.
Recommended mounting locations:
Wall: the top of the alarm should be at least 5 to 6 feet from the floor
Ceiling: As close as possible to the center of a hallway or room. If this is not possible, the edge of the alarm should be at least 4 inches from any wall.
Have an evacuation plan in place before an alarm sounds. Designate a meeting place. Know where your Bold escape ladders are located and how to use them. Personal and family safety takes planning.
