SAFE HOME PRODUCTS LAUNCHES CHARITY PROGRAM TO CELEBRATE LEADERSHIP POSITION IN
ONLINE RETAILING
Safe Home Will Donate 5% of Sales to HomeAid to help the Temporarily Homeless
IOWA CITY, Iowa – (Apr. 28, 2008) – Safe Home
Products announced today that it is the first leading online specialty retailer
of safety, health, and environmentally friendly products to achieve several industry
milestones. To celebrate these milestones, Safe Home is partnering with HomeAid,
a leading national non-profit provider of housing for today’s homeless. Safe
Home’s milestone achievements are a result of several business initiatives
completed over the past year, most recently the addition of a unique health and
safety advice blog written by its president. In celebration of Safe Home Products’
success and leadership within the online retail industry, the company will donate
5% of its product sales to HomeAid starting Monday, April 28, 2008 until July 28,
2008.
Part of Safe Home’s success this past year was fueled by expanding its product
offerings to over 5,000 items, which was due in part to satisfy the needs of its
growing customer base. Following this company milestone, Safe Home expanded its
customer base to over 100,000 customers, a reflection of the growing demand for
the company’s safety, health, and environmentally friendly products. Following
Safe Home’s growth in customers, the company further expanded its services
with the addition of a unique advice blog, called “Ask Barbara”.
This unique information and advice blog, written by the company president, Barbara
Staib, helps consumers better understand Safe Home’s products with a service
never before offered by an online specialty retailer. The goal of the blog is to
promote healthier, safer living by providing customers expert advice about household
problems they wish to solve, about products they are considering as purchases, and
about whether these or other products will fulfill their needs. To continue the
trend of providing unique and user friendly services, Safe Home Products also created
the “Eco-Site Awards” to recognize organizations that make a concerted
effort to improve the world around them through ecology, health, safety and the
environment. Winners of an Eco-Site Awards distinguish themselves with an Eco-Site
Awards badge on their website.
“Safe Home Products fills a void in the online shopping industry by offering
consumers over 5,000 unique, environmentally friendly, and home safety products
that can all be purchased on one site,” said Barbara Staib, president of Safe
Home Products. “Because of our success and company milestones, we want to
share our good fortune by supporting those less fortunate, who truly need safe housing
until their living situations improve. Through our charitable donation to HomeAid,
we hope to not only improve the lives of temporarily homeless families and individuals
but also increase national awareness of their plight.”
The charitable donation campaign will start on Monday, April 28, 2008 and will
continue through July 28, 2008. Safe Home Products will donate 5% of its sales on
SafeHomeProducts.com to HomeAid on the following home safety products: outlet covers,
edge guard cushions, banister guards, window guards, radon gas detectors, combustible
gas detectors, and safety gates for children and pets. Visitors to www.safehomeproducts.com can click
on the HomeAid banner to view eligible items and full details on the contribution
program. Then they may purchase their choice of products and know that 5% of their
purchase price goes to fund HomeAid projects. The campaign launches the beginning
of an on-going partnership with HomeAid to contribute to both organizations’
vision that all people need homes where they can feel safe and secure.
“The concept of home as a safe place for families to build their lives is
very important to our organization, its builders and its trade partners, which makes
Safe Home an ideal partner to bring awareness to America’s growing temporarily
homeless problem,” said Daniel Rhodes, vice president of marketing and communications
for HomeAid. “More than 80 percent of the homeless population find themselves
without a home due to circumstances beyond their control, such as domestic violence,
abuse, job loss or other financial crisis, desertion, and national disasters. We
are pleased to have Safe Home Products join our efforts to ensure these people in
need receive the help that they require.”
