Beef tallow is the main ingredient in Dove, Lever 2000, Dial, and Tone. Pork Tallow
is the main ingredient in Irish Spring. A mixture of beef and pork tallow is the
main ingredient in Ivory, Safe Guard, Zest, and Coast soaps. Coconut Oil is the
main ingredient in Kirk's Castile Soaps.
Glycerin is produced during the process of making coconut soap. This natural by-product
of coconut oil is left in Kirk's Castile Soaps. The glycerin gives Kirk's
outstanding moisturizing characteristics that pamper and promote health skin. Most
commercially produced brands remove this natural glycerin by a chemical separation
process.
An in depth study of the lathering and rinsibility of bar soaps was conducted in
1991 by the American Soap Company, Inc. Eight brands were tested: Dial, Irish Spring,
Shield, Tone, Safeguard, Coast, Camay, and KIRK'S. Kirk's outperformed all
