| Natural Gas and Propane Detectors and Alarms, 230VAC, 120V AC, Direct Plug In and Line Cord. In the USA, natural gas and propane heat most homes and businesses. Smelling Mercaptan, the scent additive, is no indication of the severity of the gas leak. Be safe: install combustible gas monitors near each gas using appliance. Natural gas monitor alarms mount above appliances within 6 inches of the ceiling or on the ceiling 12 inches from a wall. Propane is heavier than air: propane alarms mount within 4 to 20 inches above the floor near the appliance. For sewer gas or gas from nearby landfills, mount near the sump pit. Safe Home ™ sells two major brands of combustible gas alarms. These gas detector products sound when the concentration is less than 25% of the lower explosive limit. Safety Siren Pro 3 gas alarms plug directly into outlets. Safe-T-Alert, in 120VAC and 230VAC models, have a line cord for correct placement without a nearby outlet. Protect your home, your business and your lives from explosions or fires from leaking propane or methane gas. Install natural gas and propane specific alarms from Safe Home ™ | |
| Natural Gas and Propane Detectors monitoring the levels of gas present at the sensors. An alarm sounds at 25% of the lower explosive levels of natural gas or propane. Carbon monoxide alarms do NOT have sensors for combustible gases like natural gas, butane, gasoline and propane. Gas "puddles" above the gas appliance if it is natural gas and below the gas appliance if it is propane. That means the gas alarms must be above the gas appliance for natural gas and at or near floor level for propane.
