| Design Type 1: Traditional Combination-style Chest Piece | |
|
Traditional chest pieces have a bell side to hear low frequencies and a diaphragm
side to hear high frequency sounds. The chest piece must be turned over to listen
to the different sounds.
|
|
- Bell Mode (low-frequency)
Use light contact on the bell side to hear low-frequency sounds.
|
- Diaphragm Mode (high-frequency)
Turn the chest piece over, index to the opposite side and use firm pressure to listen
to high-frequency sounds.

| Design Type 2: Tunable Technology in Single-sided Chest Piece | |
Littmann stethoscope's patented tunable technology provides convenience, versatility
and enhanced acoustics. Its dual frequency diaphragm combines both bell (low-frequency)
and diaphragm (high-frequency) modes in the convenience of a single-sided chest
piece. You control bell and diaphragm modes by pressure on the chest piece rather
than turning it over.
|
|
- Bell Mode (low-frequency)
Light contact with chest piece allows you to hear low-frequency sounds.
|
- Diaphragm Mode (high-frequency)
Without turning the chest piece over, use firm pressure to hear high-frequency
sounds.

| Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 4100WS | |
NEW Littmann Electronic 4100 WS with Ambient Noise Reduction
(ANR) Technology: Includes FREE ACCESSORY KIT (Heart Sound CD, ID Tag and
Ear Tips).
The Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 4100 features amplification and proprietary
Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) technology allowing you to reduce ambient noise by
an average of 75% (-12dB) without eliminating critical body sounds. Three frequency
modes are available for listening to heart, lung, and other body sounds: Bell (20-200
Hz), Diaphragm (100-500 Hz), and Extended Range (20-1000 Hz).
In addition, digital signal processing offers recording, storage, and playback capabilities,
as well as the ability to transfer recorded sounds via an infrared transmission
to another Model 4100 or Model 4000 or IBM-compatible computer or hand-held device.
When combined with the 3M Sound Analysis Software you have an exquisite, state-of-the
art auscultation system, allowing you to see what you are hearing via visual display
of a phonocardiogram. This "hardware" and "software" combination will enhance teaching
opportunities, serve as a diagnostic aid and help you make more effective use of
telemedicine.
About the Sound Analysis Software:
Now what you hear with this stethoscope can also be what you see and share with
others. Because now this exquisite, state-of-the-art auscultation instrument comes
with proprietary software that lets you see exactly what you are hearing, on your
computer screen. The hardware and software combination will enhance teaching opportunities,
serve as a diagnostic aid and help you make more effective use of telemedicine.
The Sound Analysis Software allows you to see, hear and share a recorded sound file
(.e4k) that has been transferred to the computer from your 4100WS stethoscope. You
can:
- See what you hear in the form of a phonocardiogram.
- View and listen in Bell, Diaphragm and extended range modes.
- Analyze the sound using the software manipulation tools.
- Compare heart sounds over time.
- Print a copy for a permanent record.
- Save and attach the file as part of an electronic medical record.
- Send the file for another opinion or use in telemedicine.
- Use the software as an educational tool.
- Hardware requirements: Windows 95/98/2000/XP, Pentium Class Processor (or
equivalent), 64MB RAM, 4MB Hard Drive Space (+125KB per saved sound file), 16-bit
Sound Card, 256 Color VGA Monitor, Infrared port for data transmission from stethoscope,
Headphones or amplified speakers (frequency response down to 20Hz).
Features of Littmann Electronic Model 4100 WS:
- Amplification is up to 18 times greater than the best non-electronic stethoscopes.
- Filter circuitry provides three frequency response modes for listening to heart,
lung, and other body sounds: Bell (20-200 Hz), Diaphragm (100-500 Hz), and Extended
Range (20-1000 Hz).
- Digital recording and storage of sounds on six distinct tracks.
- Infrared transmission of recorded sounds to another Model 4100, Model 4000 or IBM-compatible
PC or hand-held device.
- LCD display in chestpiece, including heart rate readout.
- Recording and playback capability at normal and half-speed.
- Sound Analysis Software for PC or Pocket PC allowing a phonocardiogram visual display.
- 20 hours of continuous use from two AAA alkaline batteries.
- Excellent acoustic seal and comfortable fit with patented 3M Littmann Snap Tight
Soft-Sealing Eartips.
- Comfortably angled, anatomically correct headset.
- Patient-friendly, nonchill rim.
- Chestpiece sized for adult or pediatric patients.

| Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 3000 | |
How Ambient Noise Reduction works: The proprietary Ambient Noise Reduction
(ANR) technology, internal to the chestpiece, acoustically cancels out an average
of 75% of distracting room noise, greatly enhancing overall utility. This acoustic
canceling effect is different from electronic filtering, which may also filter out
some portions of body sounds clinicians need to hear.
Unique Design: Because of the unique design of its diaphragm and sensor,
the Model 3000 can be used comfortably on all body types and sizes. The versatile
chestpiece can accommodate infant, pediatric and adult patients, and it is ergonomically
designed for easy hand manipulation and patient comfort.

- Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) technology.
- Ergonomic, one-button control allows you to adjust volume and frequency mode with
one finger.
- Traditional cardiology tube set allows scope to easily fold and be placed in pocket.

| Littmann Stethoscope Identification Tags | |
Keep stethoscopes from walking away.
A Littmann stethoscope is a long lasting investment
and you can protect your investment and prevent it from walking away by using I.D.
tags. The Littmann I.D. tag's adjustable design allows it to fit securely on
all Littmann stethoscope models at the yoke area as shown in the picture above.
The high quality I.D. tag is both durable and attractive.
You have the option to affix either a write-on or engraveable name plate (both included
in package). Once the name plate is secured to the I.D. tag, it also serves
as a name badge.
I.D. tags are available in black or gray to match
all Littmann stethoscopes (Littmann Stethoscopes with colored tubing have gray rims,
bell sleeves and eartips, therefore would use the gray I.D. tags.)
