Keep cats off countertops, pets away from plants and discourage animals from marking territory or spraying with this safe and effective pet boundary device that uses a spray of air after a warning sound . StayAway by Contech safely and humanely protects Christmas trees, furniture, potted plants, countertops, covered porch or patio, or almost anywhere in your home. Its motion sensor activates a warning sound and then a brief, harmless spray of compressed air to keep your pet away.
Once your pet learns the warning sound, switch to "sound only" mode to conserve compressed air. The motion sensor and spray are separately adjustable for precise positioning.
Prevent Your Pet From:
- Scratching furniture and drapes.
- Jumping on counters, window sills, tables.
- Entering a room.
- Digging in plants.
- Marking and spraying.
- Away from holiday decorations.
Set Up:
- Place StayAway where you don't want the cat to go (ex: kitchen counters, near plants, etc.)
- Turn on to sound/spray; wait a few seconds for the motion detector to stabilize itself.
- For the first few days use the sound/spray mode. A sound then a spray will be released when the motion detector detects the movement of the cat.
- After a few repetitions, the sound alone will keep the cat avoiding off-limit areas.

When should I switch to sound only mode? After a few days using sound/spray, turn off the spray.. Observe your pet for response: reset to sound/spray mode if it fails to respond to sound only. You can use both options alternatively on a regular basis.
Can I leave the Stay Away on continuously? Yes. Do remember that your motion in the area can activate the spray mode..
Will moving the Stay Away help my pet's training? Yes. To generalize your pet's learning, move the Stay Away a few feet from its original location. That way your pet will learn to avoid the area completely.
What else can help my pet learn? Use positive reinforcement (food or petting) when your pet respects the zone. Or redirect your pet. When the pet goes into the plants, give him a toy to play with. By using the redirection principle or positive reinforcement, you contribute to your pet's well-being and keep harmony in your home.
